Flags & Crosses

Avenue of Flags | Mulvane Cemetery, Mulvane, Kansas | Memorial Day 2015

Much more than just three colors representing our country are waving on hundreds of graves in my hometown this weekend.

The tiny flags that adorn the graves of deceased veterans are not just there to be there as decoration; they represent a service to our country that I, as a civilian, can never ever understand.

I am reminded each year this time.

Flags and crosses.

A veteran leaves an impact on those who are still here when they are gone,  most specifically their family.

It is not barbecues and swimming for all. It is remembering the service, the honor and the sacrifices those men and women made, the loved ones of many.

Flags and crosses.
